1-Day Terelj National Park & Horse Riding Tour

Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel around 8:00 AM. After a scenic drive through forested hills and wide valleys (about 1.5 hours), you’ll reach Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, one of Mongolia’s most beautiful and accessible nature reserves.

On arrival, visit the famous Turtle Rock, a massive granite formation shaped exactly like, you guessed it, a turtle. Then head to the nearby Ariyabal Meditation Temple, perched on a hill with sweeping views of the valley. The short hike up offers great photo stops along the way.

Around noon, you’ll be welcomed by a local nomadic family and enjoy a traditional Mongolian lunch in their ger. Learn about daily life on the steppe, sample home-cooked dishes, and try a cup of suutei tsai (salty milk tea), a true taste of Mongolian hospitality.

After lunch, saddle up for your horseback riding experience through the open valleys and along the Tuul River. Your local guide will match you with a calm, well-trained horse, no experience needed!

Ride at a relaxed pace and take in the incredible views: endless grasslands, scattered rock formations, and nomadic herders tending their animals. Depending on your preference, the ride can last 1–2 hours.

After your ride, enjoy a short break with tea and snacks before heading back toward Ulaanbaatar.
